Caroline or Change 

Getting a chance to go watch a  musical is not an everyday event for some Canadians. Thanks to The Musical Stage Co. a group of newcomer youth from the Youth in Arts Program were invited to go experience for Black History Month the new performance of Caroline or Change on Monday, February 3rd 2020. 

The youth had a blast going and learning about the historical aspect of this beautiful and last surviving, Edwardian Stacked Theatre. 

The performance was amazing and we had great seats! 

It was such a fun event for everyone!

Youth in Arts Complete a Story Telling Workshop!

On June 14th, Youth in Arts were visited by a facilitator specialized in Story-Telling, Rania from Rania Writes, worked with our youth on telling their own stories around migration, belongings and identity.

Youth in Arts make Cake Pops!

On Tuesday evening, Youth in Arts had a fun time making cake pops through a BabyCakes Machine, and got to decorate their cake pops with sprinkles and dipped melted chocolate!

Youth in Arts and Sankofa get to Play Team Games!

Youth in Arts and Sankofa Youth Drop-In participated in team games and activities. Youth were divided into teams of four and were challenged to complete different tasks and games (like Jenga, Checkers, etc.) and score the highest points using team work. Great job, everyone!

Team "Cardi" were extremely anxious communicating with their team member to pull out the right wooden piece before the whole structure collapsed!

Youth in Arts and Seniors Program Celebrate Inter-Generational Story Telling

Culturelink's Seniors program and "Youth in Arts" celebrated their dedication and hard work towards to the Intergenerational Story Telling initiative. In partnership with the Toronto Reference Library's Digital Innovation Hub, Seniors and Youth met on Thursday evenings to train on technical video editing skills, production, filming and interviewing seniors on their experience as newcomers to Canada when they were younger.
